Digging through archival material for our in-progress transmedia project '63 Boycott, producer Rachel Dickson recently found footage that featured appeared to be a young Bernie Sanders being arrested. '63 Boycott aims to identify participants in and share memories of the 1963 protests against racial segregation in Chicago public schools, one of the largest civil rights demonstrations in the city's history. Seeking help to confirm that Sanders was in one such protest, we created a short video and posted it on the '63 Boycott website. The video went viral and received over half a million views on Vimeo in a week as speculation mounted, before confirmation that it was indeed Sanders came in The New York Times.
