Ahead of the film's world premiere at DOC NYC, we've released the first trailer for Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden's Almost There.
The trailer premiered exclusively on IndieWIRE, where Rachel Bernstein noted the film's "unconventional" nature and guessed that "it seems as though the filmmakers are as integral to the film's arc as the subject is."
Almost There follows 83-year-old Peter Anton, an 'outsider' artist living in isolated and crippling conditions whose world changes when two filmmakers discover his work and storied past. Shot over eight years, 'Almost There' documents Anton's first major exhibition and how the controversy it generates forces him to leave his childhood home. Each layer revealed reflects on the intersections of social norms, elder care, and artistic expression.
Tickets are now on sale for its world premiere on Saturday November 15th, 6:45pm at Bowtie Chelsea Cinemas. The directors and Kartemquin staff will be attending, as we have four films playing the festival.
