Special Life Itself Screening to Preview Telluride Festival

Roger Ebert at Telluride

A special screening of Life Itself will preview the 41st Telluride Film Festival.

Director Steve James and Chaz Ebert will attend the free-to-the-public showing at the Abel Gance Open Air Theater, which begins at approximately 8:30pm tonight (Thursday August 28th). The prestigious festival officially runs from Friday August 29th - Monday September 1st. All festival passes are sold out. Contact the festival for more details.

In a preview of the event, Marta Tarbell of Telluride's The Watch newspaper spoke to Steve James about his experiences making the film.

Roger Ebert "always had a soft spot for Telluride" (Chaz Ebert) and attended every edition he could from 1980 until failing health prohibited him. The 2013 edition of the festival was dedicated to his memory. Ebert famously once wrote that Telluride was "like Cannes died and went to heaven." We are honored to show Life Itself at Telluride.

After world premiering at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, Life Itself has screened at Ebertfest, Cannes, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Karlovy Vary and many more film festivals internationally. Released to wide acclaim in theaters in the US and Canada on July 4th, the film is still screening in select theaters, with many more dates to come, and is available on demand and on iTunes. More international festival screenings are also ahead, including Hong Kong and Deauville, with more to be announced.
