Rolling Stone puts Hoop Dreams as #1 Sports Documentary

Rolling Stone has placed our 1994 film Hoop Dreams at the very top of their list of "15 Sports Documentaries to Cheer About."

The magazine writes: "This excellent movie was filmed over a five-year period and follows two inner-city basketball players from Chicago as they pursue their NBA dreams. Although the film was universally praised by critics – Roger Ebert called it "one of the great moviegoing experiences" of his lifetime – it was completely snubbed at the Oscars. The resulting outcry ultimately led the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to revise its nomination process."

The film's star, Arthur Agee, was recently featured in a new interview with SLAM ONLINE, in which Arthur discusses the work he has done to further youth education through his Arthur Agee Jr Role Model Foundation. Watch the video below to see Arthur in action today.

Hoop Dreams is 20 years old next year. It is available to watch free online via Hulu and to purchase on DVD and download on iTunes.
