RiverRun to honor Kartemquin with "Master Of Cinema" award

Kartemquin Films is honored to receive the "Master of Cinema" award from the RiverRun Film Festival. The RiverRun Film Festival runs in Winston-Salem, NC from April 4-13. Our co-founder and artistic director Gordon Quinn will attend the festival to accept the award alongside executive director Justine Nagan and Kartemquin associates Steve James and Peter Gilbert. RiverRun will mark the award with a screening of our award-winning 2013 release The Trials of Muhammad Ali, which will be attended by the film's director Bill Siegel. The free screening takes place at 7pm on April 9th. Kartemquin filmmakers will also participate in educational workshops with the film and documentary students of nearby Wake Forest University during the festival. Previous RiverRun Master Of Cinema honorees include Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Film, Peter Bogdanovich, Bill Pullman, Pam Grier, Ned Beatty and Cliff Robertson. Emerging Master Awards will go to Winter’s Bone director Debra Granik and actress Melanie Lynskey. Previous honorees include Jeff Nichols, Paul Schneider, Michael Shannon, Ramin Bahrani and David Gordon Green.
