After its successful Tribeca Film Festival premiere, The Trials of Muhammad Ali has signed an international sales deal with Autlook Filmsales. The news was revealed in Screen International. For domestic distribution sales, the film is being represented by Cinetic Media. We are excited to be working with both companies and hope to be able to announce major distribution plans for the film very soon! The Bill Siegel directed film features never-before-seen archival footage and testimony from intimates including Ali's former wife Khalilah Camacho-Ali and brother Rahman (pictured) as it dives into the most controversial, yet misunderstood, period in Muhammad Ali’s life. The film recently received a very positive review from What (not) to Doc blogger and feted festival programmer Basil Tsiokos, who identified it as “One of Tribeca’s strongest docs, Bill Siegel’s film brings an insight to a little understood part of the legendary boxer’s life, using a staggeringly rich collection of rare archival footage,” and going on to state “The result is a thoroughly engaging, expertly crafted addition to the nonfiction body of work about Ali and his legacy in sports and beyond.” More reviews can be found here. Next up for The Trials of Muhammad Ali are three screenings at the Seattle International Film Festival. The Trials of Muhammad Ali will be shown at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center on May 25th, the SIFF Cinema Uptown on June 7 and the Egyptian Theatre on June 8. Bill Siegel will be attending the two June screenings.
