Joanna Rudnick's award-winning film follows former fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who has now devoted his life to shooting stunning images of children with visible genetic differences such as albinism and facial birthmarks. The documentary's theatrical release has been accompanied by a surge of interest, proving that the time has come for Guidotti's movement encouraging society to see the beauty in difference.
This Sunday, August 2nd at 1pm in NYC, Rick and Joanna will attend a special screening at Cinema Village. Get tickets.
On Tuesday, August 4th at 6:30pm, Kartemquin Films, the U.S. Department of State Office of the Special Advisor for International Disability Rights, and the American Film Showcase present the Washington D.C. premiere, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the American Disabilities Act. Rick, Joanna, and Jayne Waithera will attend for a panel discussion moderated by Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Judith Heumann, with opening remarks by Evan Ryan, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs. RSVP to attend for free (donation suggested) by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Coverage of On Beauty so far has come from the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek; People; CBS Radio News; Mashable; Bustle; L'Etage; Afropunk; You Beauty; Indiewire; The Today Show, Yahoo! Style, The Huffington Post, Flickr; Popsugar; The Daily Mail (UK), and more.
The response has been amazing and so gratifying to the filmmakers, but most meaningful has been the praise from viewers at the LA screenings.
