Magnolia Pictures International has sold distribution rights to our critically acclaimed Roger Ebert documentary Life Itself in several key territories at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. All rights in the United Kingdom went to Dogwoof (who also distributed The Interrupters in the UK), Roadshow Films took rights in Australia, and rights were sold to VSC in Canada and I Wonder Pictures in Italy. In addition to the all rights deals listed above, several multi-territory pay TV deals are currently in negotiation which will see the film reach many countries worldwide. All sales were negotiated by Christina Rogers for the Magnolia Pictures International team. The film had its international premiere as an Official Selection in the Cannes Classics section in May (see our report). Life Itself screened this past week in Auckland at Documentary Edge Festival, and has dates ahead in Wellington for Documentary Edge, and at Sydney Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, AFI Docs, and Nantucket Film Festival.
