We’re excited to announce the opening of the 2021 applications for the Hulu / Kartemquin Accelerator program!
This will be our second year of working with Hulu, our funder and program partner, to provide (2) filmmakers of color from any of Kartemquin’s programs with $20,000 in grant funding, guided support from the KTQ staff and community as part of a development agreement with Kartemquin, and one-on-one mentorship for the length of the program.
We invite you to attend our upcoming Zoom Q&A about the program on Tuesday, February 9th at 11am CST. Register here. Laura Gomez-Mesquita and Tim Horsburgh, KTQ Director of Film Strategy, Colette Ghunim (DVID 2017) and Reveca Torres (DVID 2017) will join to share about their experience in the first year of the program in 2020, as well as Kate Bustamante, Senior Associate of Original Documentaries at Hulu.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday, February 19th at 11:59pm CST. Alumni of all KTQ Programs (DVID, KTQ Internship, and KTQ Labs) that identify as Black, Indigenous or POC working on a project for which they are the producer and/or director are eligible to apply. Please note that applicants must either: reside in the Midwest, be native to the Midwest, or be telling a story in their project that is based in the Midwest.
The application generally follows the Documentary Core Application and includes some additional questions related to the goals of the program, KTQ’s mission, and recent adaptations to the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Fund application.
Among the materials requested, applicants are be asked to submit a budget, previous work sample, and if available, footage for the project for which you are applying to work on in the program.
