Directors Aaron Wickenden and Dan Rybicky presented the international premiere of Almost There to a sold-out crowd at Sheffield Doc/Fest on June 8.
Following this well-received screening, Aaron and Dan held an intimate q&a hosted by Influence Film Club at the Crucible, along with Kartemquin's Director of Communications and Distribution, Tim Horsburgh. You can check out photos from the event from the film's Facebook page. A particular delight of Sheffield was the directors reuniting with the film's assistant editor Won Bae (pictured), who is now based in South Korea.
After Sheffield, Aaron and Dan took the film to London's brand-new Curzon Bloomsbury Bertha Dochouse, with Aaron also hosting an Editing Masterclass.
See below for a recap of Dan and Aaron's interactions with the international crowd at Sheffield Doc/Fest and at the Bertha DocHouse. For more reviews and responses to the film, click here.
Almost There next screens in U.S. on June 25 and 28 at the Nantucket Film Festival. The film also has a "Best of Fest" screening in Sebastopol on June 27th.
