On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, 8:00 PM, Comfort Station (2579 Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL), will host a FREE double bill screening of The Last Pullman Car and Trick Bag. The screening will take place outside on the Comfort Station’s lawn, weather permitting. The Last Pullman Car (1983) tells the story of how in 1981, Pullman workers found themselves in the midst of a fight not only for their jobs but the future of the American rail car industry. Trick Bag (1974) is a film about gang members, Vietnam vets, and young factory workers from Chicago's neighborhoods telling their personal experience with racism: who gets hurt and who profits. This public screening is a part of the yearlong celebration of Kartemquin's 50th anniversary. Peter Kuttner, the main force behind creation of Trick Bag will attend the screening.
