Milking the Rhino to help fundraise for Wellington Zoo

New Zealand's Wellington Zoo will present a special showing of Kartemquin's acclaimed nature documentary Milking the Rhino on June 17th 2010 to raise money for its conservation fund.

From the Wellington Zoo's website:

"This is the first time that the Zoo has organised an event of this kind and it is hopeful that ticket sales will help it to continue its involvement in future projects to help protect wildlife and the environment.

On its release in 2008, Milking the Rhino was praised for its honest depiction of life in communities that live close to wild rhinoceros in rural Africa and the conflict that exists there between humans and animals.

This is a rare chance to see this major documentary on the big screen and a real opportunity to get an insight into a revolutionary movement that turned poachers into community-focused conservationists across the continent."

Kartemquin would like to wish the Zoo the best of luck with the screening. Get more information here.
