Award-winning Kartemquin filmmaker Steve James will present three screenings of his new film No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson this weekend in their shared hometown of Hampton, VA and nearby Newport News. The film focuses on the basketball's 1993 trial and how it impacted the Hampton community. It will air as part of ESPN Films' '30 for 30' series on April 13th.
Steve James will attend all three sneak preview screenings, which are free and open to the public. The first screening will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 26th at the YWCA of the Virginia Peninsula (227 Orcutt Avenue, Newport News), followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, hosted by Hampton Road Voice Editor Sharon P. Scott, A second screening will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27th at the Main Street Library (110 Main Street, Newport News), followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker, hosted by former Hampton University Administrator Pat Woodbury. That evening, there will be a third showing at 7:00 p.m. at the Boo Williams Complex (5 Armistead Point Parkway, Hampton).
