Help us beat the challenge!

It’s pretty simple. We could not have made it through this year without your support. From your appetite for our films to your attendance at our 45th Anniversary events, we are so very grateful to have such a wonderful group of devoted partners.

2011 was a landmark year.  We released two films, The Interrupters and A Good Man, to critical and audience praise; both films screened at numerous film festivals such as Sundance and IDFA.  We celebrated our 45-year history with a number of retrospectives, including partnerships with the Milwaukee and Virginia Film Festivals, the University of Chicago’s venerable Doc Films and WTTW. Additionally, we hosted a variety of events in the Chicago area culminating in our 45th Anniversary Gala at the Metro in September.

Already, 2012 is shaping up to be an exciting year, and we cannot wait to share what we have in store, including the Donatere-launch of a sleeker, more user friendly website, the continuation of our popular Rock the Doc series, the PBS broadcast and US DVD release of The Interrupters, and the premiere of a host of films including American Arab and On Beauty.

While 2011 has been a banner year with your support, we still need your help to close it out with a bang! We recently received a wonderful $10,000 Challenge Grant from a generous individual and the Cardiff Fund. This donor will match every dollar donated by individuals and family foundations by year end up to $10,000! That’s where you come in. We need your help to raise the remaining $5,950 needed by the end of 2011. With only a few weeks to go, every dollar counts.

Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our challenge grant today. Your gift, at the most generous level possible, is essential to our ability to continue providing the quality documentary work that you have grown accustomed to seeing from Kartemquin, as well as our community programs that nurture the Midwest’s documentary community - both emerging and veteran filmmakers.

Thank you! We are, and will continue to be, grateful for everything you have done for us over the past 45 years. Thanks for helping us take this next step towards our 50th anniversary!

Wishing you all the best and a happy and healthy New Year,

Justine Nagan
