The Interrupters wins Black Excellence Award

The African American Arts Alliance of Chicago honored The Interrupters with the award for Best Documentary at the 11th annual Black Excellence Awards Gala last night at the DuSable Museum of African American History. Kartemquin's Executive Director Justine Nagan and the film's Outreach Coordinator Anton Seals attended and accepted the award of behalf of the film.

 

The Interrupters is currently screening in downtown Chicago at the Gene Siskel Film Center until Thursday. Some remaning performances are already sold out, so please book ahead. The film is also screening in Chicago at the ICE Cinemas in Chatham and Lawndale, where it has now been playing for 8 continuous weeks, and in Toronto (where it has just been extended for a third week), Boulder, Saskatoon, and Atlanta.
