Kartemquin was honored with a visit from Haskell Wexler today: check out photos on our Facebook page.
Wexler was in town for the Chicago International Film Festival and visited us to be interviewed by our own living legend, Gordon Quinn, for a feature in the magazine In These Times. He entered the building filming on his own small video camera and proceeded to tour our offices interviewing each of the staff before sitting down with Gordon.
The 90 year-old is a two-time Oscar winning cinematographer behind undisputed classics such as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Bound for Glory and Days of Heaven, as well as his own directorial debut, the Chicago-based Medium Cool. Wexler was in conversation with Gordon Quinn - the pair have known each other since the 1960's, having worked together with filmmakers such as Mike Shea, Mike Gray and Howard Alk - to primarily discuss the DVD re-release of his 1985 feature Latino: America's Secret War in Nicaragua.
