Prisoner of Her Past and Lookingglass bring Survivors' stories to light

Scenes from Kartemquin's Prisoner of Her Past were recently shown alongside excerpts from the Lookingglass theater's acclaimed play The Last Act of Lilka Kadison as part of two Chicagoland events examining memory and the portrayal of survivors' stories in the arts.

The events at the Spertus Insititute and Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center (both venues that have previously hosted full screenings of Prisoner of Her Past) were well attended by audiences who hear both Producer/subject Howard Reich and director Gordon Quinn speak.

Read more about the events in an excellent recap in the Skokie Review.

Prisoner of Her Past screens this Sunday at 2pm in an special free event at the St. Louis Holocaust Museum, with Howard Reich attending for audience discussion. The film will also be re-broadcasting on national PBS during August (check local listings).
