The Interrupters leads IndieWIRE critical ratings of 2011 films so far

IndieWIRE has announced that The Interrupters is still leading the website's critical standings of 2011's best indie films. The film has been leading the standings ever since its fantastic reception after world premiering at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. We're both excited and a little overwhelmed to still be at the top! Filmmakers Steve James, Alex Kotlowitz and Ceasefire's Tio Hardiman and Eddie Bocanegra will all travel to the Aspen Ideas festival tonight to present the film as the opening night selection of the festival. Also today, audiences at Silverdocs can grab another chance to see the film as a new screening was just added for 1:15pm at the AFI Silver Theater 2. Get tickets. The film's director Steve James took part in a Silverdocs "Transmedia Lab" organized through the Tribeca Film Institute on Friday, claiming a $1,000 share of a prize fund for innovative outreach ideas split with five other Silverdocs films. The Interrupters will use the funds for interactive web stories and a digital “shrine” which will allow visitors to grapple with personal, social and economic forces that bear on the violence that plagues our cities.
