Silverdocs to host The Interrupters and A Good Man

Kartemquin's new films The Interrupters and A Good Man will both screen at the 2011 AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs Documentary Festival in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Silverdocs announced the news today that The Interrupters will screen on June 22nd as the "Centerpiece screening" of the entire festival, and that A Good Man will screen in the "Silver Spectrum" portion of the festival. The filmmakers associated with both films - including Gordon Quinn, Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz - will be attending the festival, as will Ameena Matthews, one of the subjects of The Interrupters. We hope to confirm more dates and attendees very soon.

This will be the third festival of 2011, Kartemquin's 45th anniversary year, in which the two films have played together, following on from Full Frame (where A Good Man world premiered and The Interrupters took home a Special Jury Award) and Minneapolis / St. Paul (where The Interrupters won Best Documentary).
