Kartemquin Co-Founder and Artistic Director Gordon Quinn divulges his plans for the weekend on the Chicago Magazine's online "Chicago Guide." Being what the magazine calls a "notable, in-the-know local" Gordon will kick off his weekend with the Prisoner of Her Past screening and discussion tomorrow night at the Pritzker Military Library, where he will be accompanied by Dr. Elliot Roth, an expert in the brain, its function and recovery, and the film's Producer/Subject Howard Reich.
He then outlines his plans to attend the Looking Glass Theatre's production of Ethan Frome, and to see The Woman With Five Elephants at the Gene Siskel Film Center. In doing so, he describes how his interest in the issues of language and translation stem from an incident 25 years ago when he had a class of children in Italy enact a translation of Taylor Chain in which "The students played all of the different parts, and we dubbed the film, all of us in a room together, with me cueing the kids by pointing at them."
Have a great weekend, Gordon!
