Kartemquin Films is proud to announce that Music Box Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the timely documentary feature REPRESENT, directed by Hillary Bachelder and co-produced by Kartemquin Films, ITVS, and Backbone Films. A remarkable feature directorial debut, REPRESENT follows three women in the American Midwest confronting entrenched political systems in their campaigns for elected office and fighting to reshape local politics on their own terms.
Kartemquin is exciting to announce that Represent is enjoying its world premiere as part of CIFF44 Streams, April 15th - 28th.
In her debut feature, Chicago-based documentary filmmaker Hillary Bachelder creates a tender and often unexpected portrait of three passionate women candidates, the challenges they face, and a glimpse at what we all have to gain when women shape the future of our communities and ultimately, our country.
After wrapping her debut feature Represent, then seeing its world premiere at Cleveland International Film Festival cancelled due to the coronavirus, director and KTQ internship alum Hillary Bachelder began reflecting on both the immense toll and privilege required to sustain a career in the documentary film industry.
Dear Kartemquin Community,
We wanted to reach out during this challenging, uncertain moment and share how Kartemquin is responding to COVID-19 — the current impact on our work and the anticipated after effects.
Kartemquin is pleased to announce that Represent will World Premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF), to be held in Clevelend, Ohio in March. CIFF announced their full program today.
