WTTW-Ch.11 presents the 10th annual broadcast of Prisoner of Her Past on April 19, in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Directed by Gordon Quinn, Prisoner of Her Past tells the haunting story of a secret childhood trauma resurfacing, sixty years later, to unravel the life of Holocaust survivor Sonia Reich.

OVID is an initiative of Docuseek, LLC and a collaborative effort of eight independent film distribution companies in the US.

Gordon Quinn, founder and artistic director of Kartemquin Films, will return to his Alma Mater, the University of Chicago, to give the 2016 Robert H. Kirschner, MD, Human Rights Memorial Lecture on June 2, 2016 at 6:00 PM, during the 2016 UChicago Alumni Weekend. Quinn will be interviewed on stage by Jacqueline Stewart, Professor in Cinema and Media Studies and the interim director (2015-16) of the Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry.

Ahead of our 50th anniversary celebration on June 24th at the Harris Theater Rooftop, we open our archives to the Chicago public with the exhibition “Kartemquin Films 1966-2016: Democracy through Documentary” opening on May 21st and running through August 20th at Expo 72 (72 E. Randolph St, Chicago, IL, 60601).

Kartemquin founder and Artistic Director Gordon Quinn will receive CIMMfest’s 2016 BAADASSSSS Award, which honors distinguished careers and lifetime achievement in movies and music, on Friday, April 15 6pm at 1st Ward, Chicago. Gordon Quinn will be in conversation with his friend and occasional collaborator Bob Hercules, of Media Process Group. The event is free to attend (get details).

WTTW, Chicago's premier public television station, will broadcast The Trials of Muhammad Ali at 10pm on Thursday, February 25th as part of a year-long series honoring the 50th anniversary of not-for-profit Chicago documentary collective Kartemquin Films.

WTTW, Chicago's premier public television station, will broadcast a year-long series of Kartemquin's award-winning films in honor of our 50th anniversary.
The monthly series will feature films from each decade of Kartemquin’s history, including the classic Hoop Dreams (1994), which will air in June 2016, to coincide with a Kartemquin “Milestones” gala celebration at the Chicago Cultural Center and Harris Theater on June 24, and an art exhibition running May-August at Expo 72.
