A record-breaking year for Kartemquin saw six of our documentary projects have world premieres in 2014:
Fox News Chicago dropped in on 1901 W Wellington yesterday to talk to us about our record-breaking year of releasing six films, and the 20th anniversary of Hoop Dreams.
Kartemquin's artistic director Gordon Quinn spoke to Jake Hamilton for the profile, touching on our desire to make films that promote empathy, and our attachment to the city of Chicago.
Celebrating a dual world premiere with screenings in the same week at Chicago International Film Festival and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Joanna Rudnick's On Beauty inspired an emotional reaction from audiences in both locations.
On Beauty will play for a sold-out crowd on Saturday October 18th as part of the Chicago International Film Festival, which caps off a week of screenings that marked the film’s world premiere. The event starts at 1:15 p.m. at the AMC River East theater in Chicago. Audience members will not only get to see the film, but they will also be able to share their stories with director Joanna Rudnick, and stars Rick Guidotti and Jayne Waithera and other special guests who have helped make this film possible.
The film is one of four Kartemquin documentaries showing on the opening weekend of the country’s largest documentary festival, held at New York's IFC Center, SVA theatre and Bow Tie Chelsea Cinemas from November 13-20, 2014. View the full line-up.
