On Beauty now in theaters, and in the news

On Beauty is now playing at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles, and opens this Friday at the Cinema Village in New York. Joanna Rudnick's award-winning film follows former fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who has now devoted his life to shooting stunning images of children with visible genetic differences such as albinism and facial birthmarks. The documentary's theatrical release has been accompanied by a surge of interest, proving that the time has come for Guidotti's movement encouraging society to see the beauty in difference. On Beauty garnering worldwide attention ahead of theatrical opening

One week ahead of the film opening in theaters in Los Angeles, On Beauty is getting positive exposure around the world. Joanna Rudnick's award-winning documentary follows fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who has now devoted his life to shooting stunning images of children with visible genetic differences such as albinism and facial birthmarks. Joanna Rudnick's On Beauty returns to the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival for two "Best of the Fest" screenings today at 4:30pm and 7pm. Earlier this year, the film won the Sebastopol Audience Award for Best Short Documentary. The Sebastopol screenings follow On Beauty's appearance at Chicago's Midwest Independent Film Festival on Tuesday in a collection of shorts for Female Filmmakers Night. Saving Mes Aynak and On Beauty Chicago doubleheader

Two great new Kartemquin films screen in our home town tonight, June 2. We hope you can join us for one of them! On Beauty wins again!

On Beauty has won the audience award for best short at the 2015 Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. The award is the third straight festival award for the film, coming soon after the jury prizes for best documentary short at its last two festival showings: the Cleveland International Film Festival and the festival in Geneva, IL. The 39th Cleveland International Film Festival has awarded On Beauty with the Jury Prize for Best Documentary Short. This is the second film festival award in as many weeks for director Joanna Rudnick's film, following the Geneva Film Festival also honoring it with the Jury Award for Best Documentary Short. On Beauty and Almost There win at Geneva Film Festival

This weekend, the 2015 Geneva Film Festival gave Joanna Rudnick's On Beauty the Best Documentary Short award, and Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden were given an Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award for Almost There. Dan and Aaron were able to pick up both awards on behalf of Kartemquin at this upcoming Illinois film festival, now in its 8th year. The Audience Award winner at Chicago Film Festival, On Beauty continues to forge ahead with a busy festival schedule, with screenings coming up at the Reelabilities NY Disabilities Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, and Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival.
