Applications now open for 2018 Diverse Voices in Docs program!

Applications are now open for the 2018 Diverse Voices in Docs program, a professional mentorship program for independent documentary filmmakers of color. Eight Midwest filmmakers will be selected from those who apply before the November 15th deadline. Apply/find more information HERE. 2018 will be the sixth year of the successful program, which has helped over 60 mid-career documentary filmmakers of color advance their projects through mentorship and skill-sharing since launching in 2013.

Margaret Caples, DVID co-founder, receives Gene Siskel Film Center's Legacy Award

Margaret Caples, both the co-founder of Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID) and executive director of the Community Film Workshop, will receive the Gene Siskel Film Center Legacy Award at the 23rd Annual Black Harvest Film Festival on August 6th at 5:30PM. Caples will be presented with the award ahead of the festival's screening of the Chicago Premiere of Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities.

Minding the Gap selected for Film Independent's 14th Annual Fast Track program

Minding the Gap has been selected to participate in Film Independent's 14th annual Fast Track program, taking place at the LA Film Festival June 19-22 in Culver City. This year the program includes 24 filmmakers representing 10 different projects. The Fast Track program consists of three days of intensive meetings with top industry financiers, agents, managers, distributors, production companies and granting organizations with the aims of creating ongoing business and creative relationships and gain exposure.
