New Initiative Will Support Filmmakers Producing Documentaries Elevating the Experiences of AAPI Communities

CHICAGO, Apr. 4, 2022 — The non-profit documentary filmmaking organization Kartemquin Films today announced a substantial commitment from Peng Zhao, CEO of Citadel Securities, and his wife, Cherry Chen, to support AAPI documentarians and the development of high-impact stories that reflect the varied experiences of their communities.

Announcing the 2022 Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID) Fellows

Kartemquin Films and the Community Film Workshop of Chicago today announced the six new 2022 Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID) fellows.

Welcoming the 9th cohort, DVID is a professional mentorship program for Midwestern documentary filmmakers of color, created by Kartemquin Films and the Community Film Workshop of Chicago. Fellows are chosen from a pool of applicants with a demonstrated commitment to social issue documentary.

Year after year, IDA brings together both films and their creators to industry insiders and film enthusiasts throughout the fall season. This year, IDA's curated collection of the most acclaimed documentary film is going online! 2020 will showcase 35 documentaries from October to January. This year’s Screening Series includes 16 projects by BIPOC filmmakers, 20 by women-identified filmmakers, and 11 by filmmakers from our international community.
