DePaul University hosts two days of "Verité" events: Unbroken Glass panels; Master Classes with Leslie Simmer and Gordon Quinn

Documentary filmmakers will gather at the School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University for “Verité,” two days of events that offer an in-depth look at the filmmaking process. The events will feature three filmmakers from Kartemquin: Dinesh Sabu, director of Unbroken Glass; Gordon Quinn, co-founder and Artistic Director of Kartemquin and Emmy Award-winning editor Leslie Simmer. Events will be held Oct. 28-29 in DePaul’s Daley Building, 247 S. State St. Admission is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. The Interrupters wins an Emmy!

The Interrupters won the Emmy for "Outstanding Informational Programming—Long-Form" tonight in New York City at the News and Documentary Emmys. We at Kartemquin are honored to receive this award, which is shared especially with FRONTLINE, the PBS program that broadcast the film in February 2012, and our production partners ITVS - The Independent Television Service, Rise Films, and distributors Cinema Guild and Dogwoof. Of course, a further special mention must be made to CeaseFire Illinois (Cure Violence) and Ameena Matthews, Eddie Bocanegra, Cobe Williams, Tio Hardiman and Gary Slutkin for sharing their story. As Goes Janesville strikes at the root of corporate influence in politics

As Goes Janesville is inspiring a nation-wide movement to create more awareness of the political influence of major businesses. On May 19, Rootstrikers invites citizens to take action via using the BizVizz corporate accountability app in local shopping centers to raise awareness about the money that flows into politics from major brands.
