Kartemquin Films, the International Documentary Association and the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events host the first ever IDA Conversation Series event in Chicago, an exploration of the extraordinary work and career of the Academy Award® nominated director Steve James (director of Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters, Life Itself and more). James will speak about the theme of “Craft” and storytelling techniques in a career retrospective with Adam Kempenaar, host of the weekly film podcast/WBEZ radio show Filmspotting, showing clips from several films including exclusive sneak previews of new works-in-progress.
