The Homestretch is screening in theaters and community venues across the country this November, as our audience engagement efforts dedicated to raising awareness and opportunities for the more than 1.6 million homeless young people in the U.S ramp up for National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.
This week we released a video to illustrate the dramatic difference in picture quality between the original Hoop Dreams released in 1994 and the newly restored HD version. Though the film is widely beloved and has been seen by millions over the past twenty years, it has never ever looked as good as this!
We are very honored to have the film recognized for this award, presented by the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP). The awards ceremony is December 1st at Cipriani Wall Street in New York, NY. The other Best Documentary nominees were Actress, Citizenfour, Manakamana, and Point and Shoot.
On Beauty will play for a sold-out crowd on Saturday October 18th as part of the Chicago International Film Festival, which caps off a week of screenings that marked the film’s world premiere. The event starts at 1:15 p.m. at the AMC River East theater in Chicago. Audience members will not only get to see the film, but they will also be able to share their stories with director Joanna Rudnick, and stars Rick Guidotti and Jayne Waithera and other special guests who have helped make this film possible.
