Award-winning Kartemquin director Steve James (Hoop Dreams, Stevie, The Interrupters) will show clips from his films and discuss the craft of documentary filmmaking. The evening is hosted and moderated by RadioWest’s Doug Fabrizio.
This special event is part of the Salt Like City Film Center's "Through the Lens" series presented in partnership with KUER’s RadioWest that features films and filmmakers who inspire, influence, and advance documentary filmmaking and storytelling. Get more information.

PBS announced their major fall programming this week, selecting the world television premiere of A Good Man to represent arts in the Chicago region. Kartemquin's new film, about the Tony Award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones's creation of a dance-theatre piece inspired by the life of Abraham Lincoln for the Ravinia Festival, will air on American Masters on a Friday night between October and December as part of PBS' inaugural Fall Arts Festival.

Kartemquin fans in Chicago should tune in to WTTW 11 tomorrow night at 9.25pm (or again on Sunday May 15 at 1:25pm) to catch Now We Live On Clifton, our 1974 documentary about the gentrification of West Lincoln Park in Chicago as seen through the eyes of two working-class children.

Kartemquin's classic film Now We Live on Clifton will air on WTTW on Thursday, May 12th at 9:25pm, as part of our 45th Anniversary broadcast series on Chicago's premier public television station. There will also be a repeat broadcast on May 15th at 1:25pm.

Prisoner of Her Past is broadcasting on PBS in over 44 states this week, with an especially large number of airings scheduled for Sunday May 1 in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Added to that sensational run are free screenings in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco over the next few days, all of which present a chance to meet key members of the film's creative team.
