45th Anniversary

We did it! Thank you to all the Kartemquin supporters who donated at the end of 2011, our 45th anniversary year, to help us in a our bid to raise $10,000 to match a challenge grant from a generous individual and the Cardiff Fund. We were successful and raised a total of $12,785, which will now be doubled as result. The funds will go towards our continued operation: making films, making filmmakers, and making a difference!

An amazing year for The Interrupters ends with the film receiving multiple placings on lists of the Best Films and/or Best Documentaries of 2011. The film has been such a critical success that P.O.V.

Maria Finitzo's 5 Girls, an award-winning documentary that closely follows five teenagers in Chicago as they navigate adolescence, will air on WTTW Wednesday night at 10pm.

The film originally aired on PBS' P.O.V. strand, and was praised for its depth and candor by critics, with the Boston Globe stating it revealed a portrait of teenage female life "we've seen little of in mainstream media."

As part of the continuing celebration of the 45th anniversary of Kartemquin Films, South Side Projections and the Southside Hub of Production are proud to present a screening of a free screening of the award-winning documentary Typeface on December 3rd, 7pm at the Southside Hub of Production, a new arts and cultural center in the heart of Hyde Park (5638 S.
