Dominican University Honors Steve James & Alex Kotlowitz for The Interrupters

Dominican University will be presenting both Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz with honorary degrees in January, in recognition for their achievement in creating The Interrupters.

Steve James will deliver the commencement address to students when the pair accept their degrees on Sunday, January 12 at the University's main campus in river Forest, Illinois. More details here.

The award is the second honorary degree Steve James has received this year, following recognition in May 2012 from Columbia College Chicago.

Dominican University has embraced The Interrupters, hosting screenings and even posting an excellent guide for "Teaching The Interrupters" on their website.

"A Good Man" Stirs Up International Dialogue for Black History Month, Lincoln's Birthday

Post-broadcast, the requests to screen A Good Man eveywhere from film festivals to universities, keep coming in.  A Good Man is a window into the creative process and, indeed, the creative crisis of one of our nation’s most enduring, provocative artists as he explores what it means to be a good man, to be a free man, to be a citizen.  These topics are particularly pertinent during February, which is both Black History Month and the month of Lincoln's birthday.

The University of Nebraska student chapter of Engineers without Borders will be screening Milking the Rhino at a fundraiser which will benefit schools in Madagascar.  A ticket includes Hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, screening of the documentary, Posters on work in Madagascar, and a presentation by Dr. Ed Louis on the Zoo's conservation efforts in Madagascar.
