The Governors State University Honors Program is hosting “Navigating Our Colliding Worlds,” a lecture series featuring presentations by Anna Carvalho, Alex Kotlowitz, and Dr. Charles Payne.

The lecture series starts with a lecture by Alex Kotlowitz, entitled “Making Sense of the Madness: Reflections from Twenty Years of Reporting on Urban Violence,” on April 11, from 5 to 7 PM in the Hall of Honors. Kotlowitz has recently co-produced Kartemquin hit documentary The Interrupters and works as a contributor The New York Times, The New Yorker, and radio's This American Life

The Interrupters will be presented with the Henry Hampton Award at the Council on Foundations 2012 Conference. Director John Singleton will present the award. Steve James, Ceasefire founder Gary Slutkin and Interrupter Ameena Matthews will be present for a discussion about CeaseFire programs.
