Maria Finitzo, the Peabody Award-winning Producer and Director of Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita, recently went on a pre-production trip to Bolivia with collaborators Mike Kennedy and Dr. Bill Leonard for her new Kartemquin project Encounters with the Other. The trip was full of such adventures as only documentary filmmakers could imagine, and we thought we'd give you the inside scoop!

In the Game, Kartemquin's in-progress documentary about the current state of women's sports after 40 years of Title IX legislation, was the catalyst for a discussion last week among The Chicago Network, a group of the city's leading female executives.

The Young Women's Leadership Council of Chicago Foundation for Women hosts a special Chicago event.
In the Game director Maria Finitzo will present a clip from the film and feature on a panel discussion about women in sports with Nancy Hogshead-Makar, senior director of advocacy for the Women's Sports Foundation, and Amy Skeen, executive director of Girls in the Game.
A reception follows with two local nonprofits focused on girls' athletics and health, Girls in the Game and Girls on the Run-Chicago.

In the Game, a new Kartemquin documentary about Title IX, gender equality and women's sports, invites you to "Take a Stand for Girls" and support their new Kickstarter campaign. Director Maria Finitzo and her crew need to raise $10,000 in 45 days to start production on the next phase of the film.
