THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT.

Join local documentary powerhouse Kartemquin Films for their first annual Spring Showcase at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago!

Food and drink reception for ticket holders starts 7pm, films start 8pm.

Enjoy rare first glimpses of new films currently in production from emerging talent as well as veterans like Peabody-award winner Maria Finitzo. See exclusive premiere clips from four works-in-progress: ENCOUNTERS WITH THE OTHERS by Maria Finitzo; ALMOST THERE by Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden; UNBROKEN GLASS by Dinesh Sabu; and THE TRIALS OF MUHAMMAD ALI by Bill Siegel, and get a window into the creative process before having an opportunity to provide your feedback and shape the future of these important works through dialogue with the filmmakers.

Four filmmakers and their work will be highlighted over the course of the evening:

Encounters with the Other (Producer: Maria Finitzo)
Encounters observes the Tsimane' people, indigenous to the lowlands of Bolivia, as they attempt to preserve traditional values in the face of globalization and the introduction of the market economy.

Almost There (Producers: Dan Rybicky & Aaron Wickenden)
A film and transmedia project documenting the discovery and stewardship of the work of 79 year-old outsider artist Peter Anton.

Unbroken Glass (Producer: Dinesh Sabu)
Twenty years after their deaths, a filmmaker journeys to find out the truth about his parents' lives.

The Trials of Muhammad Ali (Producer: Bill Siegel).
A documentary covering Ali’s toughest bout, his battle to overturn the five-year prison sentence he received for refusing US military service during the Vietnam War.
