We are delighted to announce a special Kartemquin 45th anniversary screening of the newly restored The Chicago Maternity Center Story in New York City. The screening is presented by Stranger Than Fiction at the IFC Center and will take place on April 19 at 8pm. Gordon Quinn and Suzanne Davenport, two of the film's five co-directors, will attend and take part in a discussion following the screening.
Check out this interview with Hamilton Wood Type Museum's Moran Brothers, who stopped by Kartemquin headquarters to chat with us about the huge impact that Typeface has had on the museum, the town of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and also in uniting the letterpress community. As Jim Moran puts it, people who see the film are regularly emailing him saying "I just saw the film... what can I do help?" That's exactly the sort of engagement we love to hear about at Kartemquin.
Good news Typeface fans! Building on its international screening calendar, Typeface will begin broadcasting on PBS stations across the country beginning April 4th. Call your local station and request the film today!
Stay tuned for some major international broadcasting news and additional US screenings soon!
Sadly, adverse weather conditions forced the cancellation of our Tulsa screening of Typeface last week. However, we have good news: we will soon be announcing a rescheduled screening, and we do at least have a radio interview with Typeface director Justine Nagan from Tulsa Public Radio as compensation.
