Hillary Bachelder

Hillary Bachelder is a former Kartemquin intern turned staff member now working as a freelance editor, producer, and director in Chicago. Hillary first began her Kartemquin staff life as a night shift assistant editor for the Emmy-award winning The Trials of Muhammad Ali. Hillary went on to become Post Production Manager and then Director of Production at Kartemquin, managing teams, collaborating with filmmakers, and ultimately earning credits on over a dozen recent Kartemquin projects. As a creative editor, Hillary has been involved with such films as Raising Bertie, All the Queen’s Horses, Unbroken Glass, and Hard Earned, a 6-part series produced for Al Jazeera America and winner of a 2015 DuPont award for excellence in journalistic storytelling. In 2015, she was a Contributing Editor for the prestigious Sundance Edit and Story Lab and worked closely with director Cecilia Aldarondo on her touching personal film, Memories of a Penitent Heart. Hillary is currently producing Any Given Day, a feature documentary exploring the personal stories behind Cook County’s Mental Health Courts, with director Margaret Byrne.
