Anne Sobel

Anne Sobel is a writer and producer who loves telling stories about women stepping out of line. Her graphic novel series, Isra’ & the Black Moon Pearl, is a superhero saga that steeped in the untold history of women in the Arabian Gulf. The first book is due out in Spring 2020 via HBKU Press and will be published in English, Arabic, and French. Anne also has two television series in development with Abu Dhabi-based film financier, Image Nation: Father & Son Driving School for Ladies, a sitcom about the first female driving school in Saudi Arabia, and The Exchange, an hour-long historical drama about the first women to break the glass ceiling on the Kuwait Stock Exchange. Her writing has appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Jezebel, and The Huffington Post. Anne’s producing experience includes associate producing The Workers Cup, a feature-length documentary that premiered opening night at Sundance in 2017 and made its television debut on POV. Anne has also field produced content for Channel 4, the BBC, and CCTV.
