In The Family increasingly relevant
In April, we re-released In The Family free online with P.O.V., knowing Joanna Rudnick's story of choosing whether or not to have surgery to ward off hereditary breast cancer would be of use to the public as the Supreme Court debated a landmark case on gene patenting.
At the same time, Joanna revealed that she had breast cancer, and was due to undergo a preventive double mastectomy in May. Then Angelina Jolie further turned attention towards the issues raised in the film with her revelation that she carried the BRCA1 mutation, and had undergone a double mastectomy.
