The Interrupters is coming home, and going nationwide
June 17, 2011

Kartemquin Films and distributor Cinema Guild are delighted to announce the Chicago and nationwide theatrical release dates for The Interrupters.
Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz's film opens in Chicago at the Gene Siskel Film Center on 12 August for a two-week run, and at both the ICE Theaters Chatham and Lawndale on August 26. The Interrupters has become an audience favorite and won numerous awards since its Sundance Film Festival world premiere. Already acclaimed as one of the best documentaries of recent years by international critics, the film will open nationwide this summer, starting in New York on July 29.
To accompany the local release Kartemquin is organizing a number of local community outreach events – including a Youth Media Summit on July 9 at Columbia College Chicago – aimed at interrupting the cycle of retaliatory violence plaguing the city.
Here is the currently confirmed release schedule for the film:
July 29: New York (IFC Center)
August 5: (Maysles Cinema)
August 12: Chicago (Siskel Film Center), United Kingdom (various cities).
August 26: Chicago (ICE Chatham and ICE Lawndale), Los Angeles, Denver, Portland
