Life Itself is "game-changing for the entire film industry"
Our Roger Ebert documentary Life Itself will world premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival this Sunday, with over 1,500 Indiegogo supporters exclusively able to simultaneously stream the film via VHX at http://www.Ebertmovie.com.
After the screening, those lucky viewers will all are share in the q&a from Park City, live streamed via YouTube, and anyone in the world can track and participate in the conversation by following the #Ebertchat and #LifeItself hashtags on Twitter.
Those with the streaming perk can watch the film as many times as they like within a 2 week period following Sunday. Life Itself will screen five times in total at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, and now also has upcoming dates confirmed for Ebertfest, and for Indiegogo-backed special preview screenings in NYC, Chicago and LA.
The film's successful Indiegogo campaign and the simultaneous streaming perk have been described as "game-changing... for the entire film industry." We are proud to be pioneering a new democratic distribution and funding methods and are excited to see everyone's reaction to the film. Thanks for your support if you backed the campaign!
Directed by Steve James (The Interrupters) and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Life Itself will be Steve James’ sixth film to play the Sundance Film Festival, and his seventh made with Kartemquin Films. The film is based upon Ebert’s own memoir and recounts the surprising and entertaining life of the world-renowned film critic and social commentator – a story that’s by turns personal, wistful, funny, painful, and transcendent.
