Transmedia awards and opportunities for The Interrupters
The Tribeca Film Insititute's first ever TFI New Media Fund has awarded The Interrupters $75,000 for transmedia social outreach and engagement.
The film's team plans more "interrupter video stories" and interactive initiatives that will get a wider audience to grapple with the "personal, social and economic forces that contribute to the violence that plagues our cities."
Last week in San Francisco, director Steve James, outreach associate Anton Seals and Bocoup programmer Rick Waldron put some of these ideas into action at the first ITVS and Mozilla "Living Docs Project."
The Interrupters was one of six documentary projects selected for a two-day "hack jam" aimed at utilizing the latest web tools to drive engagement, and in which the best projects could also receive additional funding from ITVS. We hope to share their exploratory innovations with you very soon!
