Celebrate #KTQ45 with us!
Kartemquin Films marks its 45th year with a celebration of the power of storytelling this Thursday, September 15th at The Metro.
The event is the first of many this fall in recognition of what we think is a pretty great story in itself: how in 1966 three University of Chicago graduates with a manifesto of "cinematic social inquiry" formed a company that has been producing positive social change through over forty films for over four decades!
If you aren't joining us Thursday, perhaps you can catch upcoming Kartemquin retrospectives at the Milwaukee Film Festival; the University of Chicago’s Doc Films; Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox cinema; and the Virginia Film Festival, in addition to an ongoing monthly showcase on Chicago’s WTTW11 PBS station. And of course, our newest releases A Good Man and The Interrupters are also coming to screens near you (and the United Nations)!
We're delighted to be celebrating 45 years of letting the people tell the story, and we're hoping for at least 45 more (the signs are good: 3 of our staff/filmmakers have had babies this year, and another is pregnant)!
If you want to write us a birthday message on Twitter or Facebook, use hashtag #KTQ45; we would love to hear from you!
