We often receive questions about the meaning of “Kar-Tem-Quin”, so we've put a video online to help explain the origin. However, after 44 years of making social issue documentaries, executing countless outreach campaigns and providing opportunities for emerging filmmakers, the name Kartemquin has evolved to encompass so much more.
To us, Kartemquin means honest, complex filmmaking of a high ethical standard that respects both our subjects and our audiences.
What does Kartemquin mean to you?
Please take a moment to let us know by visiting our IMPACT campaign and pledging your support. Your contribution will allow us not only to continue making films, but to support the community through our internships, fellowships, and initiatives such as KTQ Labs: Feedback screenings and our pioneering efforts on behalf of fair use and ethics.
Your comments don't just make us feel good; they send a strong message to audiences, policy makers and funders that there are many people out there who believe in the power of social issue documentaries as a vehicle for change. If this is something you believe in, please consider making a tax deductible donation to Kartemquin this giving season.
Thank you in advance for your support!
