On Beauty to open ReelAbilities Chicago

Our award-winning documentary short On Beauty will be the opening night film of the inaugural ReelAbilities Chicago Film Festival on Wednesday, September 9th. Get tickets.

ReelAbilities Film Festival, the largest film festival in the United States dedicated to sharing the human experience of disability through art and film, has 14 regional festivals in major cities; On Beauty previously screened at the New York, Houston, Cincinnati events earlier this year.

At ReelAbilities Chicago, the film's associate producer Stephanie Sunata will moderate a discussion following the screening with Mike McGowan of the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation, and Kelly Collins, a parent of a child with 18q Deletion Syndrome. The screening will take place at Comcast’s newest retail and exhibition space, Studio Xfinity, and will be followed by food, drinks and three other fantastic short films.

Listen to On Beauty director Joanna Rudnick discuss the film on WBEZ's Morning Shift.

On Beauty then continues on the festival circuit with screenings at the Port Townsend Film Festival on September 25 & 26.

We are excited to announce that Women Make Movies is now distributing the film, and to offer a pre-order on On Beauty on DVD, and in educational licenses to schools, libraries and other educational institutions and community organizations. If you order the educational license we will help you arrange a screening before the DVDs are released in early 2016. Email stephanie@iambeauty.me or visit Women Make Movies.

To pre-order the home DVD visit the On Beauty film store.

All of this comes on the back of a summer filled with positive exposure for the film, following successful theatrical runs in New York & LA, and a special screening in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Department of State and the American Film Showcase. Read more about that amazing run below.
