MNFF honors Steve James with Sustained Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking Award

Acclaimed director Steve James will receive Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival's 'Sustained Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking Award' on the closing night of the fest at 6:30PM on August 26. The fest will also screen James' 2018 Academy Award-nominated film Abacus: Small Enough to Jail, the first two episodes of James' upcoming Starz-acquired series America to Me, and Bing Liu's Minding the Gap (executive produced by James). All The Queen's Horses comes to Netflix July 10

Kartemquin is excited to share award-winning All The Queen's Horses by Kelly Richmond Pope will be available to stream on Netflix from Tuesday, July 10. All The Queen's Horses tells the story of Rita Crundwell, the perpetrator of the largest case of municipal fraud in American history. As city comptroller of Dixon, IL (population 15,838), Crundwell stole $53 million dollars of public funds across 20 years. She used the funds to build one of the nation’s leading quarter horse breeding empires, all while forcing staff cuts, police budget slashing, and neglect of public infrastructure. 2018 Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID) annual Funders Panel brings industry leaders to Chicago

Leading documentary industry funders will visit Chicago on Saturday, June 23rd to assess the eight in-progress projects being made by Midwestern documentary makers of color through Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID), a nine-month professional mentorship program organized by Kartemquin Films and the Community Film Workshop of Chicago.
