Remembering George Stoney
July 13, 2012

George Stoney, "father of public access television," filmmaker. July 1, 1916 - July 12, 2012.
We mark the loss of one of the great pioneers of documentary, who stayed true to his belief that democracy needed honest storytelling about the lives of real people.
You can watch All My Babies, one of his great films, free at Snagfilms. You can also watch more via the Prelinger archive. To learn more about his work, watch this interview from 2002, and read this tribute.
We think the words of Kartemquin board member Pat Aufderheide sum up our feelings aptly.
RIP George Stoney. He gave us so much, and now it is up to us.
