We’re thrilled to announce that The Chicago Community Trust has awarded Kartemquin Films $35,000 for general operating support across 2012. We at Kartemquin are incredibly grateful for the investment and the Trust’s continuing engagement in helping our small organization to be as strong and stable as possible.
As an organization, we remain committed to consistently looking for ways to improve and innovate our processes, and despite the generosity of our supporters and the success of our films, we do still struggle to keep the lights on. This grant is part of the SMART Growth program, which will help Kartemquin address institutional inefficiencies that we believe are holding us back. With this money we plan to institute a financial training program and stricter accountability standards. Additionally, we plan to improve our funder database and to train our staff and board to utilize this resource efficiently. By the close of 2012 we hope to be on our way to greater financial stability that will allow us to continue producing the Kartemquin quality films that you’ve come to love and respect. We are so grateful that the Trust has given us this funding to allow us to really step back and reevaluate how we run our organization.
If you would like to be part of the Kartemquin story too, please consider making a contribution.
