United Nations to screen The Interrupters for International Day of Peace celebration

Kartemquin is honored that The Interrupters will screen for delegates at the United Nations in New York on September 14th.
 
Producers Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz will attend along with Co-Producer Zak Piper, and interrupters Ameena Matthews, Eduardo Bocanegra, and Ricardo 'Cobe' Williams. The following day, they will all be present as the UN rings the Peace Bell to commemorate the 'International Day of Peace.'
 
The screening will be introduced by Undersecretary General and High Representative to UN Ambassador Anwarul Chowdhury and Ms. Hannelore Hoppe, Director and Deputy to the High Representative of the Office of Disarmament Affairs. The Interrupters opens in 7 new venues tomorrow, including a reprise week by popular demand at New York's IFC Center. The other new cities are Philadelphia, St. Louis, Seattle, Iowa city, Vancouver, and London. With holdovers from this week, the film will be screening in 14 cities in total across 3 countries. Co-producer Zak Piper and star Cobe Williams will go on a mini-tour to accompany these new openings this week. On Friday, 9/9 @ Frontenac Plaza in St. Louis, Zak and Cobe will hold a q&a after the 3:40 and 6:30 shows. Saturday, 9/10 @ Bijuo Cinema in Iowa City, Zak and Cobe will hold a q&a after the 4:30 and 9:30 shows, and on Monday, 9/12 @ Art Theater in Champaign, IL Zak and Cobe will hold a q&a after the 7:30pm show.
 
Finally, tickets are now on sale for the film's reprise run from October 7th-20th at Chicago's Gene Siskel Film Center, where the film's original run broke the venue's all-time box office record. Get them now while they last!
