The Interrupters breaks Siskel Center box office record!
August 24, 2011
The Interrupters has added a new award to its roster: it is now the all-time box-office champion at Chicago's Gene Siskel Film Center! The film has been the hottest ticket in town since opening there on August 12th, and other than one early afternoon screening on the first Saturday (before the incredible word of mouth kicked in) has sold out every single screening - including 3 additional screenings that the Siskel added to cope with the demand!
If you were one of the unlucky people turned away from a sold out screening (and there were many), don't despair: the Siskel Center is already confirmed to bring the film back for two weeks from October 7-20.
But there's also no reason to wait that long! The film is opening on Friday in Lawndale and Chatham at the ICE Theaters, and the Wilmette Theater in the suburbs, for a 1 week minimum engagement. Showtimes have been announced and tickets are on sale! On opening night interrupter Cobe Williams and the film's co-producer Zak Piper will be at ICE Chatham for a Q&A following the 6:15 show, and producer Alex Kotlowitz will be at the ICE Lawndale for a a Q&A following the 6:30 show. More guests for the ICE will definitely be confirmed very soon.
The Interrupters also opens in a host of new cities on Friday including Los Angeles, Miami, Denver, Portland, Omaha and Bristol in the UK, and continues for a 5th week in New York at IFC Center (see full screenings list). Director Steve James will attend a special preview in Denver tomorrow night (get tickets).

LOVIN IT
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Saw the movie at a private screening today and was blown away. I am ready to "INTERRUPT" ...by any means necessary! Keep up the good work...! Some may say you are not doing enough...but if you can save 1 life...God is definitely saying ...well done! As Siskel would say 5 thumbs up!
